Results from the 2009 Economic Essay Contest

We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2009 Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City Essay Contest. The essay topic was The Economic Impact of Natural Disasters.

Students from 50 different schools within the seven-state Tenth District submitted essays. The essays were judged on criteria such as eligibility, following the contest rules and requirements, formatting, grammar, spelling, comprehension and creativity. Essays were evaluated by a panel of Federal Reserve staff and economic professionals. Each office chose their top three winners; among those, a grand prize winner was chosen for the District. The winners are:
