There are many ways to participate in Financial Fitness Week!
Individuals can search the Financial Fitness Week Schedule events that are of personal interest. You may also view Host Organizations for a list of financial literacy providers participating in Financial Fitness Week.
Organizations interested in participating in the Financial Fitness Week can plan and host a wide range of financial education events that will then be listed in the schedule. Hosting an event during this week will gain increased exposure for your organization as well as strengthen this metro-wide initiative.
By participating in the Financial Fitness Week, your organization will benefit through:
- Increased visibility through inclusion in the campaign's marketing materials,
- Support in developing and distributing press releases for local media about your organization's events, and
- Assistance from sponsoring organizations in designing and hosting an appropriate event, if needed.
Financial education issues cut across all ages, income and geographies. Our goal is to highlight the range of financial education services and opportunities for meeting those needs. An event that serves your organization's community and clients could include seminars on identity theft, credit repair, retirement planning; presentations to school groups on money management or goal setting; or setting up a display on local resources at a public library.
Program examples include:
-
Events that your organization normally performs and is planned during the week, such as:
- A one to two hour financial education workshop for customers of a bank.
- A half day credit repair seminar by a credit counseling agency.
- A two to three four workshop for students/educators featuring financial literacy concepts
-
Opportunities that are not currently offered, such as:
- A 45 minute 'lunch and learn' about a company's retirement savings programs.
- An information session on identity theft by a local government agency.
- A basic banking session for new immigrants sponsored by a community service agency.
- Volunteering to support Teach Children to Save Day by facilitating a 45 minute saving and budgeting lesson for elementary students.
- Participate in or otherwise support the Financial Education Tent organized by the Mexican Consulate and being held April 27th at the Kansas City Zoo as part of their annual Bike Safety Rodeo
Organizations are encouraged to develop activities that directly relate to their goals and their clients' needs. Events may be open to the public or by invitation only depending on the sponsor's goals, target market and preferences. Sales pitches and/or commercial marketing are prohibited.
You may find additional ideas by reviewing the Financial Fitness Week Schedule or by talking with one of the sponsoring organizations about other opportunities.
