Self-guided Visits
27-pound gold bar Reservations aren’t required to visit the Money Museum. Our hours are 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. weekdays, excluding Bank holidays. Our free, walk-in experience allows you to see our interactive exhibits, millions of dollars in the region’s largest cash vault and design your own digital currency, complete with your photo. Exhibits appeal to all ages.

Our staff is available to answer your questions about the Money Museum or the Federal Reserve.

For walk-in groups of 12 or more, please contact the Money Museum prior to your arrival so we may best accommodate your visit.

Guided tours are available to groups of 12 or more, and require 15-day advance registration. Student groups should be 5th grade and above. More information.

The Money Museum is located on one level. Wheelchairs are available upon request. There are benches throughout the Museum.

What to Expect When You Arrive


All guests who are 18 years of age or older are required to present a valid photo ID. For United States citizens, the photo ID must be issued by the United States federal or state government (for example, a passport or driver's license). For our international guests, a valid international government issued passport must be presented. Guests will undergo security screening upon arrival. Please arrive approximately 10 minutes before your tour start time to allow for the screening process. Firearms, explosives, hazardous materials, lethal weapons, illegal drugs, and any other dangerous items, including pocket knives, are prohibited on Bank premises. Metal detectors and x-ray equipment are used to enforce this policy. Any person entering and any purse, briefcase, or other items brought on the premises are subject to being scanned and/or physically inspected. For security reasons, photography is permitted but photographs of security equipment, staff members (including Law Enforcement Officers) or Cash/Vault operations are prohibited.

Arriving at the Museum

The Kansas City Fed is located at 1 Memorial Drive, Kansas City, Missouri, 64198. The entrance is on the west side of Main Street and south of the Liberty Memorial. Free public parking is available near the north entrance to the Bank.
  • Vehicles may park in the visitors' lot. A circle drive is also available as a loading and unloading zone. Directions to the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City can be found on our website
  • All guests must enter and exit through the Federal Reserve Bank's north entrance on Memorial Drive.
  • All guests will be provided a badge which must be worn during the visit and returned to Law Enforcement staff upon leaving.
  • After the screening process, guests may store all of their purses, bags, etc. in the designated storage areas in the lobby.
  • Photography is permitted but photographs of security equipment, staff members (including Law Enforcement Officers) or Cash/Vault operations are prohibited.
  • Restrooms and a drinking fountain are located in the Bank's lobby.
